statement of aims - draft
When shooting my music video, the setting of the soul r&b music video in the Design Museum in London grasping the futuristic aesthetics. I will be using a wide range of camera angles and shots to match the slow upbeat tempo of the song " Junie " by Solange. For instance, the first 16 seconds of the song is instrumental so therefore I will capture a centred wide pan shot of the performers standing in front of a design art piece looking into the camera posing and cutting shots of the different art in the setting. Additionally, the mice-en-scene will highlight the message of the song which was to pay tribute to Funk music and honour Junie Morrison. The mice-en-scene of the different creative art work will foreshadow the funk genre of fashion. Within the music video there will not be one clear narrative as there isn't a storyline to the lyrics of the song. Instead, there will be a lot of performances to mirror the genre of the song.
I will also be using a VHS camera to shoot some of the footages to create a retro style and transition to the default iPhone camera to highlight moments in the music video.
I've decided to use Columbia record label for my chosen music record label. This is because it is a big established music company that a lot of popular artists are signed too. Also owned by Sony music entertainment which is an American global music conglomerate. The company has a revenue of 7.27 billion dollars.
The magazine that I will be making is called ' Culture Magazine ' I chose this name to reflect the genre of the magazine which is music and entertainment. The masthead will be bold white font in a black box, these colours may connote formality and structure as I keep the same two colour pallet theme throughout the front cover. Also the two colours aren't targeted at one gender but both genders . This created an orderly layout and shows the genre clearly as for example if there was more than three colours on the page it would be mirroring a gossip magazine. The magazine will cost £3 as it is affordable for the target audience ( 30-40 year olds ) both male and females.
The main image will be a wide shot of a protest in Brixton to reflect the topics in the magazine which is the evolution of music in London and the political side of music. Such as if the new music genre, Drill, should be banned in the UK.
I will also be producing a double page article about the new generation of music in the UK. The article will be called ' Fresh Faces In Music Scene ' It will consist of a range of language techniques to capture the audiences interest in the topic. For instance the alliteration " Fresh Faces" is an example of my technique of capturing the audience to read the article. I will also feature two pictures from a music concert I attended to, to make the magazine more realistic and to reinforce the conventions of a culture/music magazine.

Hey Donnette, this is a good start!
ReplyDeleteMain improvements:
-In relation to your music video you need to make sure you are covering all bullet points in the brief as there are a considerable amount missing i.e. representations of at least one social group/intended target audience etc
-Be more descriptive with your creative decisions, in order to create meaning and context with your work i.e: "For instance, the first 16 seconds of the song is instrumental so therefore I will capture a centred wide pan shot of the performers standing in front of a design art piece looking into the camera posing and cutting shots of the different art in the setting" what look/meaning are you trying to achieve with this shot-how does link to your artists genre of music or your representations of said social group
-Your magazine analysis/planning is much stronger in terms of stating what you intend to do/use and the symbolic representations of those decisions-well done! create that same pattern for your music video planning.
Hope this helps-Fay
