When shooting my music video, the setting of the soul r&b music video in the Design Museum in London grasping the futuristic aesthetics. I will be using a wide range of camera angles and shots to match the slow upbeat tempo of the song " Junie " by Solange. For instance, the first 16 seconds of the song is instrumental so therefore I will capture a centred wide pan shot of the performers standing in front of a design art piece looking into the camera posing and cutting shots of the different art in the setting. Additionally, the mice-en-scene will highlight the message of the song which was to pay tribute to Funk music and honour Junie Morrison. The mice-en-scene of the different creative art work will foreshadow the funk genre of fashion. Within the music video there will not be one clear narrative as there isn't a storyline to the lyrics of the song. Instead, there will be a lot of performances to mirror the genre of the song. I will also be using a VHS camera to ...

Tide print advert ( 1950's )

Firstly, the poster advert for Tide washing liquid has a main central image of a white housewife hugging the product as if it's her happiness and her boyfriend; the pink love hearts drawn onto of the products emphasises the point of the product being personified to a boyfriend.  The woman being advertised is wearing classic 1950's fashion clothing and styles to attract to the brands target audience who are white American women living in the suburbs. Also, the men watching the advert would have wanted their wives to be like the woman in the advert as that was seen to be the ideal woman in the 1950's. The brand wouldn't have been targeted at other ethnicities as non-white women were banned from shops and living in the suburbs. The poster consists of a three colour pallet rule of red, black and blue referencing the American flag. As the American dream was to be successful in career as America was a place of opportunities . The tagline and header " No wonder you women...

Kiss of the vampire

The horror movie, Kiss Of The Vampire, was released in 1963 during the second wave of feminism. The film was directed by  Don Sharp  and was written by producer  Anthony Hinds , credited under his writing pseudonym John Elder. Originally intended to be the third movie in  Hammer 's   Dracula  series (which began with 1958's  Dracula  with  Christopher Lee  and  Peter Cushing , and was followed by 1960's  The Brides of Dracula  with Cushing alone), it was another attempt by Hammer to make a  Dracula  sequel without Christopher Lee. The final script, by   Anthony Hinds , makes no reference to "Dracula," and expands further on the directions taken in  Brides  by portraying vampirism as a social disease afflicting those who choose a decadent lifestyle. The main central image of the male vampire and two women positioned on each side of the man suggests male dominance. The representation of women is s...

WaterAid

In the opening of the advert we see a astablished shot of a stereotypical western middle-class, who are the target audience, household in the shot we see: raindrops on the window seal, radio and a plant. The connotations of the  plant could be the idea of western people being advantaged on having water which equals to health and growth. Also, the diagetic sound of the news on the radio stating the weather forecast links to the ideology of the everyday treatment of the rain in the UK that is seen as a negative but is a positive in a African country. The scene then changes to a tropical sound and the scenery of Africa

Beyonce - Run The World (girls) & Dizzy Rascal - Dream music video analysis

In the opening of the music video, there's a wide shot of Beyonce riding a black horse in a desert. In the mise en scene, there are broken trees lying on the sand, broken satellites, a bonfire and litter. This could signify male destruction in the world and the effect of a woman on a horse observing the corruption could represent women being the saviour and hero. For instance, Beyonce is dressed in all white which connotes purity, innocence and virginity; this emphasises the theme of power as it is shown to be misused by men. In addition, the black horse connotes dominance and war as horses are used for wars. Also, the fact that a woman is on a horse converts the stereotype of femininity as horse riding is seen to be a masculine sport in the entertainment industry.  32 seconds into the music video, there is a still wide shot of a group of women of a variety of ethnicities dressed in the colour palette black and gold - These two colours conveys power, wealth and strength whi...
